Arts Walk History
The Main Street Morgantown Arts Walk began in 1996 and was originally called “Arts Tour.” Attendance, business and artists participation has steadily grown every year. This event is scheduled to coincide with West Virginia University’s Mountaineer Parent Club Weekend, October 2, 2009. Monongalia Arts Center and Arts Monongahela partner to sponsor this event and work to coordinate many of the performers and artist. The WVU Mountaineer Parents Club works closely with us to make this event a success.
This event was originally the Arts Tour and was run by Arts Monongalia. The event was not going to be continued by Arts Mon, and it was at this time the Main Street Morgantown Promotions Committee decided to continue the event. They called it A Night On The Town. It then became the Arts Walk when Main Street Morgantown partnered with Arts Monongalia and the Mon Arts Center.
